German Beer Steins

On the left is a Rein Zinn stein with a pewter lid.
Dated 1985, volume .5 liter.

On the right is a Villeroy & Boch Mettlach collectible
stein number 2901 depicting scenes from The Brothers Grimm
stories of The Frog Prince, Snow White & the Seven Dwarfs
and Little Red Riding Hood. Dating from 1980 this
beer stein was part of an American Express promotional offering
of collectible German steins. This was one of a set of four depicting Brothers Grimm stories. They were the first “etched” steins
Mettlach produced since 1927.
Only 5,000 of the set of
the four steins were made so they are relatively scarce,
and it is unusual to see a whole set offered. The stein is .5 liter
capacity and 9 inches tall overall (7 inches to the rim) with a base
diameter of 4.25 inches. The bottom of the stein lists the titles
of the three stories shown on the stein with the stein form number.
It also has the impressed Mettlach Abbey tower.

Steins offered at:
Rein
Zinn stein - $20.00
Villeroy & Boch Mettlach stein - $150.00
